The settings you should enable right now in Google Chrome
In a recent update, google has added two new features which can save your battery and RAM…
Open settings, and click on the performance tab to enable both of these!
If these options are not available yet, try updating google chrome (Help -> About Google Chrome)
Microsoft edge has had these for a while, so it’s nice to see google adopting them as well. The first feature notably takes the tabs that are in the background and puts them to sleep while you aren’t using them.
For those of you that used an extension like the great suspender or the marvelous suspender in the past to suspend background tabs… if you want to remove the extension now that google baked the feature into their browser… please do this before uninstalling, if you don’t do this the URLS that were suspended will disappear and you won’t be able to recover them easily.
Use an extension such as Session Buddy (or similar option), to backup/save your tab URLS. Then export as TXT file, and you can utilize a script I made to parse and recover those links.
